This hummingbird was originally made as a custom pendant for a good friend. It is an original piece, which I sculpted from scratch in wax and then had molded and cast in precious metal. I really like how it came out, so I have decided to make a few more in limited quantitites.
The hummingbird in this listing is cast solid in yellow brass with a .9mm genuine black diamond set as the eye. It measures approx 2.7 cm high x 2.6 cm wide x 3.7mm deep. The bail is hidden on the back of the bird and as a result the bird moves on the neck in a very intersting way-sort of like a real hummingbird might! The bail opening measures approx 4.6mm x 2.5 mm wide and the pendant weighs approx 4.2 grams.
Listing price is for the hummingbird pendant only (a chain is not included).
PLEASE NOTE: This piece is raw brass. It is not plated (I do not plate my jewelry because the plating always wears off) and it is not clear coated, so it will tarnish over time and need a little polish with a jeweler's cloth once in a while, especially if not being worn or stored in sealed plastic.
ALSO NOTE: while this alloy does not turn my skin funny colors or cause an allergic reaction, every person has a different skin chemistry and therefore a different relationship to brass jewelry. I cannot predict how it will react to everyone.
